With research investigating how to adapt the emergency management sector to the changes needed in volunteering, the Enabling sustainable emergency volunteering project wants to hear the opinions of volunteer leaders.
Through a short survey, Dr Blythe McLennan and Dr Tarn Kruger (RMIT University) are interested in hearing from members of consultative committees, leadership groups and youth networks of volunteer associations and other volunteer representative groups; and community sector organisations. The research is exploring all types of volunteering and the people who assist communities before, during or after emergencies/disasters, whether they are part of an organisation or not. The researchers are keen to find out more about your experience in working with communities to prepare, respond and recover from emergencies.
The online survey with eight open-ended questions takes 10-15 minutes to complete, and covers what is happening now and the changes that are likely to occur over the next decade in emergency volunteering. The survey closes Friday 14 December. This research has ethics approval from RMIT University and interested participants will receive details about the project including the confidentiality and management of data. This is an invitation only survey, to obtain access to the survey, please email: emergency.volunteering@rmit.edu.au
