Kate Akers
Kate Akers is currently completing her PhD at Massey University, New Zealand on the public’s needs and expectations for information and how the public interprets and responds to different forms of information in an emergency.
She has obtained her Bachelor of Science in ecology and geology in Scotland and a Master of Arts in politics and psychology. She has a keen interest in environmental education and has worked with communities to develop response plans and assist with their local understanding of hazards and resilience.
Student project
This project will increase knowledge through the co-production of mitigation solutions with the public. It intends to address any challenges for specific communities or populations in accessing or understanding information in emergency management.
