About
Dr Chris Weston

Chris Weston is a forest ecologist with specific expertise in soil science and forest ecosystem ecology. His interests include the ecology of Australian forests and nutrient cycling in forest soils, with his research activities focusing on the biogeochemistry of forest ecosystems, productivity of forests, carbon and nutrient cycling in forests, greenhouse gas fluxes from forests and bushfire fuels science. Chris has also worked on research projects in the forests of Sweden and Germany and on revegetation of salinized land in India. He is currently engaged in a project to improve greenhouse gas reporting from tropical forest degradation in Borneo, Indonesia. Chris has continued long-term studies of the recovery of ash-type eucalypts from stand replacing fires in 1983 (mountain ash, Britannia Creek) and 2003 (alpine ash, Falls Creek), as well as long-term assessment of bushfire fuels recovery in a diverse range of Victoria’s Eucalyptus forests.
