Dr Mahmood Rashid is a Research Officer at the Institute for Sustainable Industries and Liveable Cities (ISILC) of Victoria University, Melbourne. The main focus of his current work is developing computational models to predict the fire rate of spread at scale in the operational level. He is also working on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) based simulations related to Australian Standard, AS3959 to understand the bushfire attack level (BAL) on structures. Prior to joining ISILC, he worked as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences at the University of the South Pacific, Fiji. He also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, MA, USA. Mahmood received his PhD in computer science from Griffith University, Australia in 2014 majoring in Artificial Intelligence. He was a Graduate Researcher at NICTA (now data61) during his PhD Tenure. He earned his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Master of Computer Science degrees from Bangladesh.
