Alex is a PhD student at University College London’s Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction (UCL IRDR), researching the nexus of healthcare preparedness and extreme climatic events. Alex previously studied for a Master of Science in Crisis and Disaster Management with the University of Portsmouth.
Outside of his research, Alex works as Head of Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) for the National Health Service (NHS) in England. His role is to ensure the preparedness of all NHS organisations in the South West to respond to emergencies. Specifically, he leads on programmes of work including Communicable Disease, Excess and Mass Casualties, learning and improving, and EPRR Professional Development and Support.
