Onboarding is the process where a new volunteer learns everything they need to know when they first start. Research has shown that effective onboarding plays a vital role in retaining emergency service volunteers. Effective onboarding will help new volunteers understand what they will be doing, feel satisfied with their roles, improve their ability to perform, and help them fit in and feel valued.
