The Charles Sturt University student says the workshop will enhance the way he presents his research at future forums and presentations.
“It gave me a challenge to be more precise with what I present and to really reflect on the audience you are presenting to,” Peter says.
Masters and PhD students attended the workshop where they learned about key presentation skills and techniques.
The researcher had the opportunity to present his research to 120 end-users, partners and researchers as a three-minute-thesis, which is a recurring feature at RAF’s.
Peter will now conduct a survey with Tasmania Fire Service and State Emergency Service public information practitioners to measure the success and flow of public information in these agencies.
He will then compare these results with a literature review on public information practices and the outcome of the research project to inform future enhancement of public information in Tasmania and nationally.
120 end-users, partners and researchers attended the Forum which ran across two days where there were opportunities for deep discussion and networking events.
The next RAF is scheduled to take place in October.
