The Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC has been engaged by the CFS to coordinate research investigating community safety, building impacts and the use of fire modelling following the Sampson Flat fire in the Adelaide Hills in early January 2015.
CFS Chief Officer Greg Nettleton said the research will build on the previous study conducted after fires in 2014.
“This study will build on the work undertaken by the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC after the fires last summer.
"The research will be used by the CFS and other fire agencies to assist us to improve the way we support the community in preparing for bushfires, as well as assist us to better inform our communities about the consequences of fires on their lives,” said Chief Officer Nettleton.
