The Bushfire CRC is currently undertaking a large program of work to communicate to agency partners and the broader community the findings from the last three years of research. This is an important step in ensuring the research is made accessible to a broad range of audiences both now and into the future.
As the Bushfire CRC ends on 30 June this year, the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC will become the custodian of this research and the full decade of outputs since this CRC began.
The Bushfire CRC is now producing a number of documentary-style videos and conducting online forums to stimulate discussion and raise awareness of the various projects and their outcomes.
The online forums began ithis month, but will continue through until September.
Other topics that will be covered include community safety, next generation fire modelling, extreme fire behaviour, firefighter health and safety, ecology, incident management and economics to aid decision making.
The online forums are a practical approach that will enable as many agency staff, volunteers, community members and researchers to participate as possible.
Importantly, each video and forum will be accessible into the future and hosted by the Bushfire and Natural Hazards, along with Fire Notes and more in depth research reports, leaving a strong legacy.
