How does remotely sensed degree of curing and fuel load vary in grasslands and effect modelled fire spread?
This study is utilising new microwave-based vegetation indices, in combination with other visible and near infrared remote sensing techniques, to develop cost-effective ways of estimating fuel load and enhancing the result of estimations from remote sensing techniques The research will improve estimates of fuel load, and allow moisture content data to be available, along with high temporal resolution to inform fire danger indices.
