Nicholai Popov

Nicholai Popov’s research is utilising leadership development to promote organisational citizenship behaviour and cultivate social capital, which have been associated with reductions in intentions to quit and improved engagement among organisational members. By using a training intervention that applies Self-Determination Theory, leaders can be trained in how to satisfy the three basic psychological needs among their direct reports. As of June 2021, Nicholai expected to submit his PhD in late 2021.

Student project

This research examines the impact of leadership development on organisational citizenship behaviour and social capital. It involves a training intervention using Self-Determination Theory. By training leaders how to satisfy the three basic psychological needs among their direct reports, the study is attempting to offer organisations a new way to cultivating organisational citizenship behaviour and social capital among organisational members.
