Research into the community experiences of the 2015 Sampson Flat bushfire in South Australia, commissioned by the CFS, has been released. The study focused on the community’s bushfire experience, including bushfire safety; the CFS Community Fire Safe program; and information and warnings. The report is titled Capturing community experiences in the 2015 Sampson Flat fire and can be accessed here.
A conference paper from the Pre-disaster multi-hazard damage and economic loss estimation model project proposes a site classification scheme and a design spectrum model for different ground conditions, with site natural period as the key parameter. The proposed model has a particular emphasis on the phenomenon of resonant-like amplification behaviour in soil sites, which have not been explicitly considered in existing code models.
A number of journal papers have been published, both on Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC research, and research through the former Bushfire CRC.
